Country-specific planning facts
- Destination
- Italy · IT
- Official national source
- Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency
- Route profile
- EU coastal destination; the nearest port is not automatically the best gateway for the final postcode.
These four facts are kept country-specific. EU-wide TARIC, EORI and VAT sources are additional shared references—not substitutes for the national review.
Who this route is for
This route fits overseas homeowners, designers, contractors and project buyers who have already bought building materials such as doors, cabinets, flooring, sanitary ware and lighting, together with furniture or other eligible home products in China. One supplier or several suppliers can be considered. The supplier addresses, ready dates and packing status should be recorded before collection starts.
Buildcargo is a China-based freight forwarder specializing in post-purchase logistics for overseas home projects. We also review eligible one-time orders for private homeowners; a whole-house order or full container is not required. See our cargo acceptance limits. We are not the product seller, interior designer, installer or destination tax adviser unless a separate written service says so.
Products and suppliers chosen, but not ordered yet?
Send the product links, supplier details, estimated dimensions and your Italy destination. We can review the likely shipping and packing needs before you place the order; you still choose and buy from your suppliers.
This is an initial transport assessment, not a final quote. Final packed dimensions, weight and the agreed service scope may change the plan. See what to check before buying.
What Buildcargo can coordinate in China
- Collect from one or several suppliers in Foshan, Lecong, Shunde and other eligible Chinese cities.
- Receive each order under a separate reference; record the types of goods received, package count, labels, visible outer-package condition, measurements and gross weight.
- Review packing as a separate step and quote export crating or reinforcement when required.
- Consolidate the identified orders and plan the container or shared shipment from the final packed data.
- Coordinate export handling, international freight and destination delivery according to the written quote.
Standard receiving counts packages, not every product inside them. Detailed counting is arranged on request; product-level inspection must be agreed against an order, drawing, sample or written acceptance standard.
Your first estimate uses the information you send. Once all the goods planned for this shipment arrive at our warehouse, we check the packed measurements and packing, then confirm the final price and scope in writing before dispatch.
See what you can check: preliminary quote · package dimensions and measurement photos · itemized formal quote · loading video and freight bill.
English records: the quotation and loading examples follow a completed U.S. project. The ruler photos are a separately labelled warehouse measurement example, not a completed delivery in this country.
What must be checked for Italy
Imports into Italy use the EU customs framework, but the actual VAT, importer and product-compliance position still depends on the named country and shipment. Check the official EU TARIC, EORI guidance, EU VAT guidance and Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency. Final classification and tax scope require shipment-specific review.
Product material matters. Furniture, wood, stone, glass, electrical goods, sanitary ware and building products can require different commodity codes, certificates or trade-remedy review. Do not rely on a generic furniture duty estimate for a mixed home order.
Route and final delivery to Italy
Italy can be served through more than one European gateway. The nearest port is not automatically the best route: cargo size, sailing availability, customs arrangement, inland distance and the final Italy postcode all affect the plan. Buildcargo confirms the actual gateway and final-mile scope in writing.
For eligible cargo, a written plan can cover customs clearance, applicable duties and VAT, and delivery via Rotterdam or Antwerp, the Buildcargo-operated warehouse near Düsseldorf, and onward distribution to Italy. The actual gateway and included charges are confirmed before booking.
For the typical gateways, Düsseldorf-area warehouse and onward-delivery sequence, see Buildcargo's European operating network. Your Italy route remains subject to the written shipment plan.
Standard delivery ends at the agreed vehicle-accessible outdoor point. Prepare these three things before the truck arrives:
- Vehicle access: send the address and tell us about narrow roads, gates and parking restrictions. We review maps and street views, then confirm the vehicle with the local carrier.
- Who unloads: name the person or local team receiving and unloading the cargo at the agreed time.
- Equipment and workers: confirm any forklift, tail lift or unloading labor in advance. We can help contact local providers; availability and charges are agreed separately.
Unloading, carrying inside, stairs and installation are not included by default. Smaller-vehicle arrangements, waiting, address changes or redelivery may add costs; the applicable scope and charges must be confirmed in writing.
A real Italian villa project
Buildcargo handled two Italian villa projects, each with its own container. The published record for the second villa lists all seven cargo categories: doors and glass, bathroom fixtures, furniture, lighting and decoration, kitchenware, household goods, locks and small hardware.
The anonymized shipment file records 121 declaration lines, 94 product descriptions and 322 product units. This breadth is what makes a villa project different from shipping one sofa or one cabinet.
For a new Italy order, Buildcargo still confirms the current route, customs scope, postcode, access and unloading plan in writing.
Details collected later for a written quote
You can message us in Italian using text translation. Please send your details in writing so we can check them accurately. During normal China business hours, with the necessary shipment details available, an initial price usually takes about 30 minutes for shared-container cargo (LCL) or four hours for a full container (FCL). These are typical response times, not guarantees; the formal quote follows warehouse measurement and packing review.
You can contact us before you have all of these. A photo, link, order screenshot or short message is enough to start.
- Destination country, postcode, address type and access details.
- Supplier cities, order references and expected ready dates.
- Product description, material, quantity and cargo value.
- Final packed dimensions, gross weight and photos per piece.
- Whether duties, taxes, unloading, inside delivery or installation should be reviewed.
When useful, the shipping quote checklist and free readiness check can help prepare the later written review. Neither is required before contacting us.

Frequently asked questions
Can you collect from several Chinese suppliers?
Yes. Each supplier needs an address, order reference and ready date so the orders can be received separately and kept identifiable before consolidation.
Can my Italy quote include freight, customs clearance, duties and VAT?
Yes. For eligible cargo, the written plan can include international freight, customs clearance, applicable duties and VAT, and delivery to an agreed, vehicle-accessible outdoor handover point in Italy. Buildcargo's European company has its own VAT registration; private buyers do not need their own VAT number. The quote confirms included charges and exclusions. Unloading, inside delivery and installation are not included unless separately agreed in writing.
Will the driver unload or carry the furniture inside?
The standard delivery does not include unloading or carrying inside. If you need a forklift or unloading workers, we can help contact local providers and confirm availability, scope and charges before delivery. These local services are arranged and charged separately from standard freight. Inside carrying, stairs and installation still need separate written confirmation.
Can I check shipping before placing my order?
Yes. If the products and suppliers are already chosen, send their links, estimated dimensions and your destination in Italy. The initial assessment is not a final quote, and Buildcargo does not choose or buy the products for you.
Do I need my own VAT number or customs paperwork as a private buyer?
No. For our eligible EU duty-paid service, private buyers do not need their own VAT number or to prepare customs invoices or declarations themselves. Suppliers provide the actual product and transaction information; Buildcargo coordinates English packing lists and customs formalities through its European operating arrangement. Provide your name, email and home address for the delivery arrangement; suppliers provide the actual cargo details and documents.
Does a small shipment have to wait for a full container?
No. Buildcargo has daily container-loading and dispatch arrangements, so ready, eligible small orders can join the existing consolidation flow rather than wait for us to fill a separate container. Packing and documents must be confirmed first. This does not mean daily sailings or same-day departure for every order; the booked vessel and cutoff determine the sea departure.
When and how do I pay for a sea shipment?
We confirm receiving and basic services before intake, then the formal quote and full transport contract after measurement and packing review. For ocean shipments, freight is paid after the goods are loaded into the container. We accept RMB or USD bank transfers, with foreign-currency receipts through our Hong Kong account; we confirm funds received and issue a payment receipt. See the European service terms.
When is the final price confirmed?
We first estimate from the information you send. After all the goods planned for your shipment have arrived at our warehouse, we measure the packed cargo and review the packing. We then confirm the final price and service scope with you in writing before dispatch. Quotes are normally valid for three days, as stated in the document. Once confirmed, ordinary freight-rate movements do not change that price while cargo, packing, route, address and scope stay unchanged. Cargo changes, added services or contract-defined exceptional charges need separate written confirmation; not every possible charge is included.
